John & Virginia Dietterich have operated the Prairie Cottage Guest house in the historic house for the past several years. Buiilt from native limestone the house was constucted in 1898 by Henry Tilley, a well-known stonemason. At age 53, Mr. Tilley quarried the stone and built the home for his wife, Isabel. Ransom is just 20 minutes from Cedar Bluff State Park & Lake. Here, one can enjoy hunting and fishing as only western Kansas can provide. Located in the park, close to the lake is Cedar Bluff Lodge. Nearby, Bert’s Corner Bait & Tackle provides hunting & fishing gear, gasoline, and food. |
